Stuff About Adelaide
I always enjoyed my visits to Adelaide. It's called Australia's City of Churches and it's apparent why. back in the 80s and the first half of the 90s, Adelaide was one of the Formula 1 Grand Prix Cities and my memories of those events are extraordinary, including meeting a whole heap of really interesting people, George Harrison, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, Formula One World Champion Alain Prost, (alright, I'll quit name dropping) but apart from those folks (who may or may not, or in some cases cannot visit Adelaide any more, but who always had great things to say about it) the town, I found was always open, friendly, and without much reluctance to really rock when it had to. I'd post a picture of me in Adelaide, but you don't want to see me partying in the 80s & 90s.... eeek! - Those where the days though. I wonder if Rundle Mall still has it's buskers and stores and if all those fine bars down by the beach are still great places to visit. My next trip there will be in March 2009 for the Clipsal 500 an awesome Aussie V8 Supercars Events (raced on the same auto-wrecking track that F1 raced on in its glory years (remember the 1991 when it rained, and rained and rained - and the cars spun and spun and spun? -see the video below) the week before Albert Park Circuit - Melbourne Australia hosts the first 2009 F1 Grand Prix - see my guide to Melbourne (previous link) about 400 miles away - if you're driving consider stopping on the South Australian Victorian Border as a midway point. I will be - nice lighthouses and some pretty cool coastline near Mount Gambier - (Mount Gambier SA Hotels). Searching for Hotels near Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit Melbourne?
